As a Las Vegas resident, you've probably experienced more spiders than you prefer; if you're new to the area, get ready! Obviously, no one wants spiders in their homes as they can bite, and some are even deadly. With this in mind, it's also important you know that Las Vegas is home to some of the most dangerous spiders there are.

If you see even one of these poisonous spiders, know that's enough reason to contact your local Las Vegas pest control professionals as there are likely more spiders hiding in your home.

The Types Of Spiders You May Find In Your Las Vegas Home

There are more than 45,000 (known) species of spiders worldwide, ranging from common house spiders like daddy long legs to exotic spiders like what's considered the most venomous spider in the world; the Sydney funnel-web spider.

Fortunately, you don't have to worry about the most venomous spider in the world in your Las Vegas home; but the spiders listed below are some of the most common spiders you'll likely see. And while a can of bug spray or a good old-fashioned shoe may temporarily rid your home of that spider for the moment, you can't be too safe in assuming there's more where that came from.

For effective spider control, you need to call the professionals here at Anderson Pest Control to get rid of not only the spiders wreaking havoc in your home but the source of your spider problem.

Black Widow Spiders

Black widow spiders are among the most venomous spiders in North America, if not indeed the most venomous. And though bites from these spiders aren't deadly, they can cause serious health problems. If a black widow bites and you receive no medical attention, it can cause breathing problems, dizziness, and nausea. In fact, their bite is 15 times stronger than that of a rattlesnake's bite due to the neurotoxin it contains.

You can identify a black widow by its shiny, black, bulb-shaped body with a red hourglass-shaped marking on the underside of its abdomen.

Desert Brown Recluse Spiders

Desert recluse spiders are some of the most dangerous spiders to have in your home of all the Arizona desert spiders. With their fangs and venom, one bite can cause the bite area to have necrotic lesions. To help keep bites from happening, be sure to do things like keep your bed away from the wall, don't let bed skirts hang too low to the ground, and be sure to keep dirty laundry or pillows off the ground, as it provides hiding places.

Desert brown recluse spiders are sandy brown or tan (sometimes even yellowish) in color with light brown abdomens. Their body has a fiddle-shaped marking, and they have six eyes and straight legs.

Wolf Spiders

Wolf spiders are definitely alarming to see, but they're native to the Las Vegas area and aren't going anywhere. It's important to note that these spiders aren't known to be aggressive, but when cornered, they will bite. The best way to keep a lookout for these spiders is while keeping up your home. Regularly vacuuming your floors, decluttering, and sealing all possible points of entry are ideal deterrents.

Wolf spiders are a grayish color with brown markings. Their eyes shine prominently in well-lit areas, making them easier to spot, and they can grow from 1/2 to 2 inches in length.

All in all, whether you need to get rid of wolf spiders, desert brown recluse spiders, or black widows, they all require the services of Las Vegas Pest Control professionals, as these spiders are known to bite and leave damaging effects.
